This three day trip on Mt. Shasta is offered on the more remote Hotlum-Bolum route. For folks who have some experience under their belt, this is a great climb combining glacier travel as well as some steeper climbing. After meeting on the first day, we will hike into an set up a camp high on the mountain at about 10,000 feet. On our second day we will climb the mountain encountering steep snow as we head towards the summit. Following our return to high camp we will rest from our big summit attempt day and prepare for our hike out on day three.
Participants should have some previous experience with steep snow climbing, and be able to carry at least a 50 pound pack into our high camp. This is a great introduction to a 14,000′ peak with great access. If you are thinking about Mt. Rainier in the future, this would be an ideal warm up.
