While we may not always have the best ice in Oregon, we do have more frozen rock than you can shake a tool at. Come get yourself primed for the alpine or just pumped silly for fun with longtime Bend local and IFMGA Mountain Guide Chris Wright on the finest steep choss the Cascades have to offer. This one-day clinic is designed for climbers who already have some experience in ice and mixed climbing and are looking to up their game with techniques and movement coaching for trickier routes from about M5/5.9 and up. On the advanced mixed climbing course we’ll focus on climbing, efficiency and pump management for vertical to overhanging routes, as well as considerations and equipment for protection in mixed terrain. This advanced course assumes some proficiency with tools already as we’ll be taking the basics and turning them up. Similarly to our Intro to Mixed clinic, this is a great choice whether you’re focused on big alpine routes or mixed climbing for its own sake. A longtime mixed aficionado and first ascensionist from Bend to beyond, Chris can’t wait to take you on a tour of his latest creations.

Advanced Mixed Climbing Clinic

Central Oregon

In the mountains, the lines between snow and ice and rock can often blur. When the ice gets thin, and you find yourself scratching the rock with the picks of your ice-tools, you’ll be glad that you learned some technique with Chris Wright, an accomplished alpinist who wants to share his hard-earned tips and techniques with you.

"I am very happy with my TMG experience. The guides were professional, personable, and extremely concerned about safety. . . I absolutely give highest marks to these guys. If you don't have much Alpine experience, or just want the security of seasoned veterans guiding you up this mountain, then I strongly recommend you sign up with them. Thanks, guys, for a great experience!!"

"What a fantastic experience gaining the summit of a mountain we've gazed on from Portland for 25 years! . . . We learned a great deal, had a ton of fun, felt in very capable hands, and had the reward of summiting on a beautiful clear day. The value of being with a professional, certified, guide and guiding organization was evident throughout. Kudos to the TMG team who were responsive, supportive, and fun to work with every step of the way."

"We booked 2-day overnight program on Mt. Hood with Timberline Mountain Guides. Our guides were great, . . super friendly and reputable. The program did not go as planned due to inclement weather but we still had fun and good experience. The guides were definitely flexible and provided guidance during the trip. I would recommend going with them if it's your first climbing trip on Mt. Hood for sure."
