Growing up in the central part of Washington state afforded Ross endless opportunities to experience the outdoors from a very young age. After a seven year career with the Forest Service, two of which working as a Smokejumper, Ross decided to pursue mountain guiding as a full time profession. He is currently about halfway through his formal training to become certified mountain guide under the American Mountain Guides Association. Ross enjoys all manner and means of playing in the mountains, and he finds satisfaction in sharing mountain environs with others. He values his experiences in far-away places, as well as his time at home in Winthrop, WA, where his lives with his partner and their Labrador retriever.
