Karin Pocock, AMGA Ski and Rock Guide

Karin Pocock

Karin enjoys sharing her love of the backcountry with others. The mountains are an amazing classroom, and Karin has spent the vast majority of her life learning, growing, and being humbled in the mountain environment.

She began working professionally in the mountains in 2002 and has spent the last 23 years as an outdoor educator, guide, ski patroller and avalanche forecaster. Karin also dedicated over a decade of this to working as a course director and staff trainer for Outward Bound schools across western North America in addition to her guiding.

Karin has been active in the snow and avalanche industry throughout her whole career and currently holds a position as the Director of Processional Avalanche Programs for Silverton Avalanche School in addition to her guiding.

She also has a love of mountain biking and is certified as a Level 1 instructor through the BICP and an ultra-endurance bike pack racer on the side. No matter how you want to travel through the mountains, Karin would love to spend a day with you whether climbing rock, snow or ice, or making beautiful powder turns.

She grew up learning the craft of backcountry skiing and climbing in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, worked throughout western North America and now splits her time between the mountains of Colorado, Oregon and the desert southwest.

When not at work, Karin can be found rock climbing splitter cracks in the desert, overnight bike-packing single track through the mountains or curled up with her guitar.
