Looking to escape the crowds on Mount Hood? Climb with us mid-week. In this three-day course, you’ll spend time up on Mt Hood in a basecamp setting. We’ll start by taking the Timberline Ski Lift (if it’s running) up to the top of the ski area at 8500′. We’ll then hike over to basecamp at Illumination Saddle and spend time learning how to properly construct our tent sites on snow. In most cases, we’ll have time to review some skills in the afternoon.
On day 2, there are many options available for instruction. Typically, we are able to go through our Anchors and Belaying class, but sometimes, we can even delve into Crevasse Rescue skills.
On day 3, we’ll be rising early to attempt the summit and hopefully see one of the best views in Oregon! On the way back down, we’ll scoop up our camp and head back down to Timberline Lodge. Climbers should be aware that this is a very strenuous program, and should be able to carry a 50 pound pack.
