Glacier Climbing

Late-Season Glacier Climbing

This three day seminar is suited for those who are strictly interested in establishing a solid foundation of skills for alpine climbing while enjoying the dramatic north side of Mount Hood.

On the first day of this three day program, we’ll hike in, cross the Elliot Glacier and set up camp.  That afternoon, we’ll review some basic steep snow climbing techniques.  Throughout the next two days we’ll delve into advanced alpine climbing techniques such as belaying and anchoring for steep snow, crevasse rescue and steep ice climbing skills. Due to the time of year, we will not be making a summit attempt on Mt Hood.
