Middle & South Sister

The East Face of Middle Sister

Middle Sister

Middle Sister is a great first trip for any beginner climber seeking some moderate snow climbing combined with a summit climb. We typically introduce folks to camping and climbing by heading in to climb the North Ridge Route. If you are interested in spring skiing, this area offers some of the best variety of terrain from gentle glaciers to steep ridges.

Middle Sister

North Ridge
(1 Day)

We offer this climb for intermediate climbers. This is a big push for one day and climbers need to be in very good physical shape and have previous climbing instruction and expereince. For beginners, we would suggest this same route but in an overnight setting (see below).

Offered: June- August. Dates arranged on request.
Ratio: 3:1
Cost: $250 per climber in groups of two or more.

North Ridge
(2 Days)

On our approach, we traverse beneath the massive east face of North Sister and establish our camp on the toe of the Hayden Glacier. After an alpine start on day two, we'll wind our way up moraines and snowfields to the col between Middle and North Sister. After a few sections of steep snow on the North Ridge proper, we will be on the summit of Middle Sister. This is an excellent introduction to mountaineering.

Offered: June- August. Dates arranged on request.
Ratio: 3:1
Cost: $500 per climber in groups of two or more.

Middle & North Sister
(3 Days)

Come tackle both peaks on this fantastic 3 day trip. We hike in on the first day and establish camp between Middle and North Sister. On the second day, we climb North Sister. After a well deserved night of rest, we rise early again and attempt Middle Sister. In the afternoon, we'll hike out. Both peaks require the use of ice axe and crampons.

Offered: June 18-20. Additional dates arranged on request.
Ratio: 2:1
Cost: $720 per climber in groups of two or more.
